Below are the best dates to use for October seminars and the ones to avoid.

Looking Ahead

  • MLB Playoffs & World Series  – October brings postseason baseball, which can compete for attention on weeknights—especially in markets with a hometown team in contention. Keep potential playoff and World Series games in mind when scheduling October seminars.
  • Columbus Day – Columbus Day falls on Monday, October 12th in 2026, and the U.S. Postal Service observes the federal holiday. With postal operations affected, be sure to factor the holiday into your direct-mail timeline and allow adequate time for invitations to reach prospects.
  • Thursday Night Football – Thursday Night Football begins in September, bringing another potential scheduling conflict for evening seminars throughout the fall. Be mindful of Thursday night events, particularly when the local team is playing, as high-interest matchups may impact attendance.

  • Monday Night Football – Monday Night Football returns in September, making Monday evenings another consideration when planning fall seminars. Check the NFL schedule before finalizing event dates, especially for markets with strong local football followings.

  • Halloween – Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31st in 2026. While that makes Halloween itself less likely to interfere with a weekday seminar, the days leading into Halloween may still bring school, family and community activities. Consider keeping your late-October event calendar lighter, particularly on Thursday and Friday evenings.
